Tour Details
Day 1: Hanoi Motorbike Tour to Thac Ba Lake – Vu Linh (180 km)
Your Vietnam Big Bike Tour launches in the heart of Hanoi. As you roll out of the city on your ADV bike, the chaos of urban life melts into the open countryside — a ribbon of rice fields, old pagodas, and tiny roadside cafés. This first stage covers about 180 km on a blend of smooth highways and local backroads, allowing you to ease into the rhythm of Vietnam’s north.
Approaching Thac Ba Lake, the scenery transforms into a dreamscape of emerald waters dotted with limestone islets and Dao minority villages. By late afternoon you’ll arrive in Vu Linh village, settling into a lakeside eco-lodge or homestay. Share tea with locals or take a short boat ride before dinner.
Rider Tips: This is a warm-up ride — check your suspension and luggage straps. Adapt to local traffic and savor the change from urban bustle to rural tranquility.
Day 2: Thac Ba Lake Motorcycle Tour to Ha Giang (180 km)
Wake up to the mist rising off the lake. Today’s Vietnam ADV bike tour takes you to Ha Giang, gateway to Vietnam’s most iconic mountain roads. The route winds through terraced hills, bamboo forests, and forgotten hamlets where children wave as you pass.
Ha Giang town marks the threshold to the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark. You’ll overnight in a boutique hotel or guesthouse, enjoying local dishes like thắng cố or grilled pork. This is your chance to prepare mentally and mechanically for the dramatic highland routes ahead.
Rider Tips: Narrow roads and occasional livestock crossings demand alertness. This is where your big bike’s comfort and power shine. Hydrate often, especially in the warmer valleys.
Day 3: Ha Giang Motorbike Tour to Meo Vac via the Dong Van Rock Plateau (150 km)
Today you ride into the heart of the Luxury Vietnam Big Bike Tour. The Dong Van Karst Plateau rises like a fortress of stone — a UNESCO Geopark where limestone peaks and deep canyons create an otherworldly backdrop. You’ll pass Hmong markets, century-old houses, and hidden valleys carved by time.
The highlight is the legendary Ma Pi Leng Pass, often called Vietnam’s most breathtaking road. Here the asphalt clings to sheer cliffs above the jade Nho Que River. Meo Vac town awaits at day’s end — a rugged mountain outpost with hearty food and mountain hospitality.
Rider Tips: Ma Pi Leng’s curves can be tight and the winds strong. Slow your pace, keep your line steady, and let the view sink in. Bring a GoPro or camera — this is bucket-list riding.
Day 4: Meo Vac Motorbike Tour to Ban Gioc Waterfall (270 km)
Today is a big mileage day — 270 km of changing scenery. You’ll start high in the mountains then descend into rolling valleys and borderlands. Remote villages, endless limestone ridges, and lush subtropical hills mark your path toward Ban Gioc Waterfall.
Arriving at Ban Gioc — Asia’s fourth largest waterfall, straddling the Vietnam–China border — you’ll be greeted by the thunderous sound of cascading water. Spend the evening in a riverside lodge or comfortable guesthouse nearby, soaking up the evening mist.
Rider Tips: Long riding days demand stamina. Fuel up every chance you get. Take breaks to stretch and photograph the scenery. Expect variable road conditions from smooth tarmac to gravel patches.
Day 5: Ban Gioc Motorbike Tour via Quang Uyen to Cao Bang City
After breakfast by the waterfall, you’ll ride westward through Quang Uyen — a region of karst landscapes, bamboo groves, and traditional blacksmith villages. This route gives you a glimpse of daily life in Vietnam’s far north, away from tourist trails.
Cao Bang City, with its colonial-era buildings and bustling markets, offers a comfortable stopover. Here you’ll enjoy a well-earned dinner and perhaps sample Cao Bang’s famous phở chua.
Rider Tips: This is a moderate riding day. Watch for local traffic in market towns and slow down when passing through villages. Your ADV bike’s torque will make overtakes easy, but patience is safer.
Day 6: Cao Bang Motorbike Tour to Mau Son Peak – Lang Son City
Today’s ride is a highlight for anyone on a Vietnam Big Bike Tour. Leaving Cao Bang, you’ll cut through mountain passes and hidden valleys en route to Mau Son Peak — often called “the rooftop of northeast Vietnam.” At 1,541 meters, Mau Son offers panoramic views of layered mountains stretching to the Chinese border.
From here, descend to Lang Son City, a vibrant border hub known for its markets and delicious roasted duck. This combination of high-altitude riding and borderland culture makes the day unforgettable.
Rider Tips: Weather on Mau Son Peak can be unpredictable, with mist or wind. Layer your gear accordingly. Roads are steep but well-paved; engine braking and proper cornering technique will keep you in control.
Day 7: Lang Son Motorbike Tour to Bac Son Valley – Hanoi
Your final day blends culture and scenery. Ride through Bac Son Valley — a hidden gem with its patchwork of rice fields hemmed by karst mountains. The valley is particularly stunning from the Na Lay viewpoint, where you can take a short hike for sweeping photos of your ADV bikes parked below.
Afterward, continue south, transitioning from remote highlands back to Hanoi’s energy. As you roll into the capital, you’ll feel the sense of accomplishment — seven days, countless mountain passes, and memories to last a lifetime.
Rider Tips: Traffic will build as you approach Hanoi. Ride in formation, signal clearly, and anticipate local driving styles. Use this last stretch to savor the contrast between the quiet valleys and the bustling capital.
