Tour Overview & Highlights

10 DAYS EXPEDITION

Some journeys are remembered for the places you visit; others stay with you because of everything that happens between them. This 10-day Hoi An to Saigon motorbike adventure brings both together, linking the central coast with Vietnam’s coffee-growing highlands, mountain lakes and tropical forest. Begin among Hoi An’s historic merchant houses before riding south to Quang Ngai and inland through Mang Den to Kon Tum. Discover distinctive highland architecture, pause beside Lak Lake and follow twisting roads into Da Lat’s cool pine country. Beyond the city, Ta Dung opens into a panorama of wooded islands, while Cat Tien invites you to slow down and listen to the forest. Designed for experienced road riders, this guided motorcycle journey combines satisfying riding with thoughtful cultural encounters, comfortable breaks and a memorable finish in Saigon.

Distance

Approximately 30–40 km by vehicle

Transfer time

Approximately 45–75 minutes

Total programme time

Arrival-dependent; allow another 1–2 hours for an optional introductory walk

Road conditions

Paved urban and coastal connecting roads; airport and city traffic

Riding requirement

Key attractions / highlights

Hoi An riverside, historic merchant-house streets, lantern-lit evening atmosphere

Overnight

Hoi An

Arrive at Da Nang International Airport, meet your driver and travel south to Hoi An. The first day is deliberately gentle, allowing you to recover from your flight before the motorcycle adventure begins. Along the way, the changing streetscape offers an introduction to central Vietnam, from busy urban roads to the lower buildings and quieter approaches around your destination. At the hotel, unpack, freshen up and give yourself time to settle into the climate.

For travellers arriving early enough, an introductory walk provides a relaxed first encounter with Hoi An. Start beside the Thu Bon River, watching the movement of boats and the activity around the waterside cafés. From here, follow the smaller streets past old shopfronts and merchant houses. Rather than trying to cover the town’s principal monuments immediately, use this first afternoon to notice its scale, colours and everyday details.

A café stop is a pleasant way to ease into the journey. Order something refreshing, take a seat and let the town move around you. Your guide can introduce local dining options and help you choose a first meal suited to your appetite. After a long flight, a simple bowl of noodles and an early evening may be more appealing than an elaborate programme. There will be time tomorrow to explore more fully.

Da Nang City

Later, meet your tour representative for a welcome conversation. Discuss your recent riding experience, preferred pace and any concerns about comfort or equipment. This is also a chance to explain what interests you most: local food, photography, history, mountain roads or conversations with people along the way. These details help the team understand the group before the full motorcycle briefing and preparation session tomorrow.

As daylight softens, Hoi An becomes an inviting place for another short stroll. Lanterns bring colour to the streets, and the riverside offers a gentle setting for dinner. Enjoy the evening at your own pace, returning to the hotel whenever you feel ready. For late arrivals, all sightseeing can wait. Today’s purpose is straightforward: a comfortable welcome, a good rest and the beginning of a journey with enough space to enjoy it.

02

Day 2:  Hoi An Heritage Leisure And Motorcycle Preparation

Time to discover the town and become comfortable with your motorcycle.

Daily information

Details

Route

Hoi An hotel → Ancient Town → hotel; optional countryside familiarisation loop

Distance

No scheduled touring distance; approximately 10–20 km if a familiarisation ride is arranged

Riding time

Optional 30–60 minutes

Total programme time

Approximately 4–6 hours of heritage visits and preparation, with leisure breaks

Road conditions

Ancient Town explored on foot; optional ride on paved local roads with bicycles, junctions and village traffic

Riding difficulty

Easy familiarisation, subject to traffic and rider assessment

Key attractions / highlights

Japanese Covered Bridge, Fujian Assembly Hall, merchant-house streets, regional cuisine

Optional experiences

Beach time, countryside excursion or cooking activity; choose according to available time

Overnight

Hoi An

Begin the morning without the pressure of packing your bags. A second day in Hoi An gives you time to enjoy the destination while adjusting to local time and preparing for the road ahead. After breakfast, head into the Ancient Town for a guided walk, ideally before the day becomes too warm. Exploring on foot allows you to appreciate details that would pass unnoticed from a motorcycle.

Around the Japanese Covered Bridge, your guide introduces the town’s history as a meeting place for trading communities. Continue through streets of merchant houses to the Fujian Assembly Hall, where architectural decoration and spaces of worship offer another perspective on Hoi An’s cultural heritage. The interest lies in understanding how commerce, belief and family life have shaped the town, rather than simply collecting photographs of its best-known buildings.

Lunch provides a more personal introduction to the region. Try cao lau or another local speciality, with your guide explaining ingredients and suggesting dishes that suit your preferences. Afterwards, leave time for the hotel pool, a quiet café or a rest. Travellers keen to explore further can arrange a short countryside or beach visit, but the afternoon should retain enough flexibility for the essential motorcycle preparation.

Motorbike Tour to Da Nang Hoi An

Meet the riding team and become familiar with your assigned bike. Check the seating position, controls, brakes and luggage arrangement, and make sure your protective equipment fits properly. The briefing covers group spacing, overtaking, regrouping points, road awareness and communication. Where appropriate, a short familiarisation ride on suitable local roads helps you settle into the motorcycle before tomorrow’s longer stage. This is the right moment to discuss anything that feels uncomfortable or unfamiliar.

Spend the evening enjoying Hoi An at your own pace. You might choose a small restaurant away from the busiest streets or return to the riverside for one final walk. Keep tomorrow’s riding essentials accessible and pack your luggage according to the agreed arrangement. The day should end with a sense of readiness rather than fatigue: you have explored the town, met the team and prepared for the first chapter of your Vietnam motorcycle journey.

03

Day 3: Hoi An Motorbike Tour To Quang Ngai Via Son My

Coastal countryside and a thoughtful encounter with Vietnam’s wartime history.

Daily information

Details

Route

Hoi An → selected coastal and rural roads → Son My Memorial → Quang Ngai

Distance

Approximately 140–170 km

Riding time

Approximately 4–5 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 6.5–8 hours

Road conditions

Mostly paved, relatively level roads; village lanes and connecting main roads with mixed traffic

Riding difficulty

Moderate; attention needed at junctions, settlements and busier road sections

Key attractions / highlights

Coastal countryside, agricultural villages, Son My / My Lai Memorial

Planned main visit

Allow approximately 60–90 minutes at the memorial

Overnight

Quang Ngai

After breakfast, set off from Hoi An and begin the first travelling stage of your motorbike tour. The departure is measured, giving everyone time to settle into the motorcycle and the group’s riding rhythm. Beyond the town, fields and village roads gradually replace the familiar shopfronts. The landscape becomes less about celebrated landmarks and more about everyday life unfolding beside the road.

Where practical, follow quieter coastal and rural stretches, using main-road connections when necessary. These smaller roads offer a closer view of cultivated land, modest homes and local businesses. Stop only where parking is safe and the setting rewards a pause. A drink break may become a conversation about farming, fishing or the routines of a village that most visitors would otherwise pass without noticing.

The principal visit is the Son My Memorial, associated internationally with the My Lai massacre. Here, the journey takes a more reflective turn. The memorial and exhibits commemorate civilians killed in March 1968, giving human context to an event often encountered through a brief passage in a history book. Allow time to move through the site carefully, with your guide helping explain the background and leaving space for questions or quiet reflection.

Continue towards Quang Ngai after the visit, with lunch arranged according to the day’s timing. The remaining distance is manageable, allowing the guide to balance riding with rest rather than hurry through the afternoon. If conditions and daylight permit, a short coastal pause may be possible. Otherwise, ride directly to your hotel and enjoy a relaxed arrival. The memorial remains the day’s priority, and its visit should never feel squeezed between less important stops.

Over dinner, you may find that the day’s strongest memories come from very different moments: the pleasure of finding your rhythm on the bike, a friendly exchange at a café, or the quiet of the memorial grounds. Together, they establish the character of this Hoi An to Saigon motorcycle adventure. The road is part of the experience, but so is making time to understand the places and people along it.

HOI AN MOTORBIKE TOUR TO MY SON
04

Day 4: Quang Ngai Motorbike Tour To Kon Tum Via Mang Den

Leave the coastal plain and climb into the highlands.

Daily information

Details

Route

Quang Ngai → National Highway 24 corridor → Mang Den → Kon Tum

Distance

Approximately 210–240 km

Riding time

Approximately 5.5–6.5 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 8–9 hours

Road conditions

Predominantly paved mountain roads; sustained climbs, descents, tight bends and variable repaired surfaces

Riding difficulty

Moderate to demanding, particularly in rain or reduced visibility

Key attractions / highlights

Mountain viewpoints, Mang Den pine landscapes, changing highland scenery

Planned main stop

Lunch and a short break in Mang Den

Conditional visit

A brief local Mang Den stop if progress and weather permit

Overnight

Kon Tum

An early breakfast prepares you for one of the journey’s most rewarding mountain stages. Leave Quang Ngai and follow the inland route towards Mang Den, gradually exchanging the coastal plain for rising terrain. The first sections allow you to warm into the day before the bends become more frequent. As the road climbs, the views begin to stretch across valleys and forested slopes.

This is a day for smooth, attentive riding. Mountain roads can combine flowing corners with tighter turns, occasional uneven surfaces and settlements that appear just beyond a bend. Your guide sets a pace suited to conditions, with safe regrouping points and regular opportunities to rest. Enjoying the road means reading it carefully, leaving enough room to respond to traffic and resisting the temptation to rush towards the next viewpoint.

Mang Den offers a welcome change of atmosphere. Pine trees and cooler surroundings give the lunch stop a different character from yesterday’s coastal journey. Take time to stretch, enjoy a warm meal and appreciate the setting. A short local walk or visit may be possible, but the programme avoids filling this long riding day with multiple detours. The journey through the mountains is the principal experience.

Continue towards Kon Tum as the landscape opens into more settled valleys. Farming areas and villages remind you that the Central Highlands are a living, working region, with distinct communities and traditions. During breaks, your guide introduces the local cultural context and explains why architectural styles and village customs differ across the area. These conversations prepare you for tomorrow’s heritage visits without turning the afternoon into a rushed sightseeing exercise.

Arrive in Kon Tum and check into your hotel. After the sustained concentration of mountain riding, a shower and some free time are well earned. If the group arrives comfortably before evening, a brief riverside orientation can provide a first impression of the town. Otherwise, keep the remaining programme simple and enjoy dinner nearby. The Wooden Church and Kon Klor area are planned for the following morning, when you can appreciate them with fresh energy.

05

Day 5:  Kon Tum Motorbike Tour To Buon Ma Thuot Via Pleiku

Distinctive architecture, plateau riding and the everyday culture of coffee.

Daily information

Details

Route

Kon Tum → Pleiku → southbound plateau corridor → Buon Ma Thuot

Distance

Approximately 240–270 km

Riding time

Approximately 5.5–6.5 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 8–9.5 hours

Road conditions

Mostly paved plateau roads and highways; rolling terrain, trucks, town traffic and selected quieter connecting roads

Riding difficulty

Moderate, with endurance and traffic awareness important

Key attractions / highlights

Kon Tum Wooden Church, Kon Klor communal-house area, Pleiku landscapes, coffee-growing country

Planned heritage time

Approximately 60–75 minutes across the selected Kon Tum stops

Conditional visit

Bien Ho / Sea Lake near Pleiku only if time permits; not a guaranteed stop

Overnight

Buon Ma Thuot

Start early with a focused introduction to Kon Tum’s heritage. The Wooden Church offers a memorable first stop, with its timber construction and distinctive architectural character. Look closely at how the building relates to the region around it, while remembering that it remains a place of worship. A quiet visit provides a more meaningful experience than treating the church simply as a photographic backdrop.

Continue to the Kon Klor area, where the river setting and communal architecture introduce another aspect of local life. Where access is permitted, learn about the role of a Bahnar communal house and how it differs from an ordinary family home. Its dramatic roof is immediately striking, but the deeper interest lies in the building’s place within the community. Keep the morning visits concise so that the long onward stage remains comfortable.

Ride south through the Pleiku area and continue towards Buon Ma Thuot. The route follows a practical combination of plateau roads, highway sections and quieter stretches where available. This is a working transport corridor, so expect commercial vehicles and changing traffic around towns. The landscape may feel expansive, but the riding still requires concentration. A Bien Ho detour can be considered only when the day is progressing well.

Motorbike Tours to Kon Tum

Coffee-growing landscapes become part of the story as you move through the highlands. During a café break, ask about the relationship between the surrounding farms and the drink in your cup. Harvesting, processing and preparation each influence the final flavour, while cafés themselves offer a window into local social life. The stop need not be elaborate; a simple table, a good conversation and time out of the saddle can be enough.

Arrive in Buon Ma Thuot towards late afternoon, depending on road conditions and the length of the morning visits. After checking in, keep the evening relaxed. A local café or nearby restaurant provides an easy introduction to the city without extending an already substantial day. The World Coffee Museum is not automatically added to this schedule; travellers wanting a detailed museum visit and nearby waterfalls should consider an extra night here. Tonight, the priority is rest before the ride through Lak Lake.

06

Day 6:  Buon Ma Thuot Motorbike Tour To Da Lat Via Lak Lake

Lakeside village life followed by a memorable mountain-road journey.

Daily information

Details

Route

Buon Ma Thuot → Lak Lake / Lien Son area → mountain-road corridor → Da Lat

Distance

Approximately 210–240 km

Riding time

Approximately 5.5–6.5 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 8–9.5 hours

Road conditions

Predominantly paved rural roads, followed by winding mountain sections; possible potholes, repairs and slippery patches

Riding difficulty

Moderate to demanding due to repeated bends and the length of the day

Key attractions / highlights

Lak Lake, M’nong village surroundings, agricultural landscapes, mountain approaches to Da Lat

Planned cultural stop

Approximately 60–90 minutes around Lak Lake

Optional experience

Short boat outing, only if arranged and compatible with conditions and timing

Overnight

Da Lat

Leave Buon Ma Thuot early and follow the road towards Lak Lake. The morning introduces a quieter landscape of fields, settlements and open water, offering a welcome contrast to yesterday’s longer plateau transit. The first part of the ride should feel purposeful but unhurried, preserving time for a meaningful lakeside stop before the more demanding mountain sections later in the day.

At Lak Lake, park the motorcycles and explore the surroundings with your guide. The appeal is in the relationship between the water, cultivated land and nearby communities. A visit to a M’nong village, where locally welcomed, provides an opportunity to learn about traditional homes and aspects of family life. Ask before photographing people, and enter private spaces only by invitation. A respectful conversation is more valuable than an encounter arranged solely for a photograph.

Allow time to enjoy the lake itself. Depending on conditions and prior arrangements, a short boat outing may be possible, while others may prefer to remain ashore with a drink and an open view. The schedule does not assume that every activity can fit into the same morning. Your guide balances the cultural visit with lunch and the distance still ahead, keeping the final mountain ride within a sensible daylight window.

Motorbike Tours to Lak Lake

Continue towards Da Lat through an increasingly winding landscape. Repeated corners, changing gradients and occasional surface irregularities require steady attention. Ride smoothly, leave generous spacing and use the scheduled breaks to stretch and reset your concentration. The pleasure of this Central Highlands motorbike stage lies in the gradual transition: the surroundings change, the air becomes cooler, and the approach to Da Lat feels distinct from the country you left behind.

Arrive at your hotel and enjoy the comfort of a two-night stay. There is no need to fit major city sightseeing into the evening. A warm meal, a short walk if you feel energetic, and time to rest are a fitting end to the day. Tomorrow’s local exploration will introduce Da Lat’s architecture, lakes and pine-lined roads at a gentler pace, allowing you to enjoy the destination rather than simply passing through it.

07

Day 7:  Da Lat Motorbike Exploration   Architecture Pine Roads And Tuyen Lam Lake

A lighter day that gives the highland city time to reveal its character.

Daily information

Details

Route

Da Lat centre → Crazy House → Bao Dai’s Summer Palace → Truc Lam Zen Monastery / Tuyen Lam Lake → Da Lat

Distance

Approximately 50–80 km, depending on the countryside loop

Riding time

Approximately 2–3 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 6–7.5 hours, including visits and lunch

Road conditions

Paved city streets and hilly local roads; urban congestion, junctions and some steep approaches

Riding difficulty

Easy to moderate; lighter mileage but continued attention required

Key attractions / highlights

Crazy House, Bao Dai’s Summer Palace, Truc Lam Zen Monastery, Tuyen Lam Lake

Additional experience

Short pine-country or agricultural loop where time permits

Overnight

Da Lat

Enjoy a more leisurely breakfast today. With no luggage to move and a second night in Da Lat, the programme can follow the attractions rather than the demands of a long transfer. Short motorcycle rides link visits on foot, giving your body a welcome change after several substantial days in the saddle. The city’s appeal lies partly in its contrasts, and today allows time to appreciate them.

Begin at Crazy House, where unusual forms and unexpected pathways invite a curious approach. Move carefully through the narrower passages and take time to see how the spaces connect. Continue to Bao Dai’s Summer Palace for a very different architectural experience. The rooms and setting provide a starting point for discussing Vietnam’s last emperor and the broader historical changes surrounding his lifetime.

After the urban visits, ride towards Truc Lam Zen Monastery and Tuyen Lam Lake. The surroundings become quieter, with pine trees and open views creating a change of mood. Respect the monastery’s visiting rules and keep voices low in places of worship. Around the lake, pause to enjoy the setting rather than filling every moment with another activity. This part of the day is about breathing room as much as sightseeing.

Following lunch, a short countryside loop can reveal some of the cultivated landscapes around Da Lat. The exact route depends on traffic, weather and the group’s interests. Where access has been arranged, a farm or garden stop can introduce the practical side of life in this cooler region. Alternatively, enjoy a café break and return earlier to the hotel. The itinerary should remain flexible enough to provide genuine recovery time.

In the evening, explore the market area or choose a quieter restaurant according to your preference. Take your time with the menu and ask about local dishes rather than trying to sample everything at once. A warm drink is particularly welcome when the evening feels cool. Today’s shorter distance gives the journey a more balanced rhythm, demonstrating that a rewarding Vietnam motorcycle tour includes time to stay, look closer and enjoy a place beyond the moment of arrival.

Motorbike Tours to Dalat
08

Day 8:  Da Lat Motorbike Tour To Ta Dung

Coffee-country roads and a sweeping panorama of wooded islands.

Daily information

Details

Route

Da Lat → selected western plateau roads → Ta Dung accommodation and viewpoints

Distance

Approximately 150–180 km

Riding time

Approximately 4.5–5.5 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 6.5–8 hours

Road conditions

Predominantly paved, winding plateau roads; narrow sections, village traffic and possible broken edges

Riding difficulty

Moderate

Key attractions / highlights

Highland farming landscapes, roadside coffee culture, Ta Dung reservoir panoramas

Planned main experience

Afternoon viewpoint stops overlooking the lake and wooded islands

Optional experience

Boat excursion by prior arrangement, subject to operator availability and weather

Overnight

Ta Dung area

Depart Da Lat after breakfast and follow the roads leading towards Ta Dung. Leaving the city behind, the scenery opens into a working highland landscape of cultivated slopes and small settlements. Today’s distance is more moderate than the longer transit stages, but winding roads still require time. The aim is to enjoy the journey and reach the lake with daylight available for its viewpoints.

Choose a comfortable rhythm through the changing terrain. Village traffic, junctions and occasional road repairs mean that progress is not always reflected accurately by the kilometres alone. Your guide selects sensible stopping places, allowing you to stretch and look around without interrupting the flow of the day. There is no need to hurry: some of the most satisfying parts of motorcycle touring are the ordinary landscapes encountered between the better-known destinations.

A café stop introduces another view of highland life. Watch the activity around you, ask about the surrounding crops and enjoy a drink before continuing. If a suitable agricultural visit has been arranged, it can add context to the fields you have been passing. Otherwise, the stop remains simple and relaxed. The day’s main attraction lies ahead, and the programme avoids unrelated detours that would reduce your time at Ta Dung.

The first broad view of the reservoir is a moment to savour. Water stretches between wooded islands and irregular ridgelines, creating layers that change with the light. Stop at a suitable established viewpoint and give yourself time to take in the scale of the landscape. Visibility and water levels vary, so each visit has its own character. Photographs capture the shape of the scene, but sitting quietly often reveals more of its atmosphere.

Check into your selected accommodation and enjoy the remainder of the afternoon. Facilities around Ta Dung may be simpler than in Da Lat, so the attraction is the setting rather than a promise of resort-style luxury. A boat excursion can be considered only when arranged with a suitable operator and when timing permits. Otherwise, remain with the viewpoints, enjoy dinner and settle in for a peaceful evening before tomorrow’s longer journey south.

09

Day 9  Ta Dung Motorbike Tour To Cat Tien National Park

Descend from the highlands towards the tropical lowlands.

Daily information

Details

Route

Ta Dung → selected highland-to-lowland roads → Nam Cat Tien gateway area

Distance

Approximately 240–290 km

Riding time

Approximately 6–7 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 8–9.5 hours

Road conditions

Paved mountain descents, plantation roads and main-road connections; variable surfaces and mixed commercial traffic

Riding difficulty

Demanding because of the distance, concentration and possible heat

Key attractions / highlights

Changing elevations, agricultural valleys, plantation landscapes and Cat Tien surroundings

Programme priority

An early departure and arrival before dark; no long trek scheduled

Optional evening activity

Park-operated night excursion, only if available and compatible with arrival time

Overnight

Cat Tien area

Start early after breakfast, taking a final look towards Ta Dung if visibility allows. This is one of the longest stages of the tour, and the programme is intentionally straightforward: enjoy the changing scenery, maintain a comfortable pace and reach Cat Tien with time to settle in. There is no substantial morning excursion, because the road itself deserves the available daylight.

As you leave the reservoir area, the landscape begins a gradual transition towards lower elevations. Cultivated slopes, valleys and roadside settlements replace the wide lake panoramas. The air may become warmer, and the character of the vegetation changes along the way. Your guide chooses the practical route according to current conditions, combining rewarding riding sections with the necessary links that keep the day achievable.

Regular breaks are an essential part of the plan. Stop for refreshments, take a proper lunch and use each pause to stretch and assess how you are feeling. Long days are more enjoyable when the group communicates openly about fatigue and comfort. Agricultural vehicles, trucks and changing road surfaces require attention throughout, so the pace should always leave a margin for the unexpected rather than depend on making up time later.

SAIGON MOTORBIKE TOUR TO CAT TIEN NATIONAL PARK
MOTORBIKE TOUR TO CAT TIEN NATIONAL PARK

Approaching Cat Tien, the day’s focus shifts from riding to the forest environment you will experience tomorrow. Arrive at your lodge or guesthouse, check in and enjoy a shower after the long journey. Depending on the property and available time, a short walk around the accommodation area offers a gentle introduction to the surroundings. A substantial forest activity is deliberately left out of this afternoon, avoiding an overfilled programme.

Dinner can be as relaxed as the group wishes. If a park-operated night excursion is available, it may be arranged for travellers who still feel energetic, but it remains optional rather than an expected part of the day. Others may prefer an early night and the sounds of the countryside. Tomorrow begins with a short nature experience before the final ride to Saigon, so a comfortable evening is part of making the last day enjoyable.

10

Day 10:  Cat Tien National Park Motorbike Tour To Saigon

A short forest encounter before the final ride into southern Vietnam’s busiest city.

Daily information

Details

Route

Cat Tien area → rural lowland roads → agreed Saigon motorcycle handover point

Distance

Approximately 180–220 km

Riding time

Approximately 4.5–6 hours

Total touring time

Approximately 7.5–9 hours, including the short forest visit and breaks

Road conditions

Paved rural roads and connecting highways; increasingly dense traffic towards Saigon

Riding difficulty

Moderate; urban approaches can be tiring and require strong concentration

Key attractions / highlights

Short guided forest experience, lowland countryside and the contrast of arrival in Saigon

Planned nature activity

Approximately 1–1.5 hours, with access and route arranged in advance

What's Included & Excluded

10 DAYS · ALL-INCLUSIVE EXPEDITION

What's Excluded

  • in the standard day
  • A full Bau Sau / Crocodile Lake excursion
  • Tour finish
  • Saigon hotel or agreed handover point; post-tour accommodation arranged separately
  • Wake early for a short guided introduction to Cat Tien’s forest, with the route and access arranged in advance. After so many days experiencing the country from a motorcycle, walking invites a different kind of attention. Leaves, roots, insects and changes in sound become the focus, while your guide helps interpret details that might otherwise be overlooked. The morning is about understanding the habitat rather than expecting guaranteed wildlife sightings.
  • Keep the activity manageable and suited to the onward journey. An accessible walk allows time to enjoy the forest without creating a rushed departure. Bau Sau, commonly known as Crocodile Lake, is not part of this short visit because it requires a more substantial excursion. Travellers particularly interested in longer walks, wetlands or wildlife observation should add another night at Cat Tien, allowing these experiences the time they deserve.
  • After breakfast and check-out, begin the final riding stage towards Saigon. The lowland roads offer a different perspective from the highland bends of earlier days. Settlements become more frequent, and the landscape increasingly reflects the movement of people and goods towards the city. Regular breaks help manage the heat and maintain concentration. A final roadside lunch provides a chance to share favourite moments before the busier approaches begin.
  • Traffic becomes the main consideration as you near Ho Chi Minh City. Follow the agreed group procedure, maintain safe spacing and accept that progress may slow considerably. For groups preferring to avoid the busiest central streets, motorcycle return outside the centre followed by a vehicle transfer can be arranged in advance. This option must be confirmed in the booking, including any additional logistics and cost.
  • Finish at the agreed handover point and say farewell to the riding team. Over ten days, the journey has connected Hoi An’s trading-town atmosphere, Quang Ngai’s history, highland communities, Da Lat’s hills, Ta Dung’s water and Cat Tien’s forest. Each has contributed a different part of the story. Enjoy an evening in Saigon and allow time to reflect before moving on. A post-tour overnight stay is strongly recommended, giving you a comfortable buffer before your onward flight.

No. The 10-day itinerary includes arrival in Hoi An, a day for heritage visits, leisure and motorcycle preparation, seven point-to-point riding days, and one local exploration day around Da Lat. This balance gives you time to settle in before the journey and enjoy the destinations along the way.

3. How far will we ride, and how long are the daily stages?

The estimated motorcycle distance is approximately 1,420–1,690 km, depending on the selected roads, accommodation and sightseeing stops. Most travelling days cover around 140–290 km, with approximately four to seven hours of actual riding. Including lunch, visits and rest breaks, a full touring day usually lasts around seven to nine hours.

4. What types of roads should I expect?

Expect a mixture of paved mountain roads, agricultural backroads, village streets and connecting highways. Some sections may have potholes, gravel from roadworks or uneven edges. The approaches to larger towns bring heavier traffic, while the mountain stages require careful cornering. This is a scenic road-based motorcycle adventure rather than a technical enduro expedition.

5. Which days are the most demanding?

The longer stages include Kon Tum to Buon Ma Thuot, Buon Ma Thuot to Da Lat via Lak Lake, and Ta Dung to Cat Tien. These days combine substantial distances with traffic, repeated bends or changing temperatures. Early departures and regular breaks help keep the pace manageable. For a gentler journey, additional overnight stops can be discussed before booking.

6. Which motorcycle is best for this itinerary?

The best choice depends on your experience, height, preferred seating position and comfort over longer distances. A motorcycle that fits you well is more important than choosing the largest engine available. Let us know what you normally ride so we can recommend a suitable option from the motorcycles available for your departure. The model and any upgrade charge will be confirmed in your quotation.

7. Can I join as a passenger if I do not ride?

A pillion arrangement with an experienced rider may be possible by prior agreement. Alternatively, a non-riding companion may be able to travel in a support vehicle when one is booked. Please discuss this before confirming, as availability, comfort, insurance requirements and pricing need to be checked for the chosen arrangement.

8. What riding documents should I prepare?

Before booking, ask us to check the requirements applicable to your nationality, licence and chosen motorcycle. You must hold riding documents recognised in Vietnam, with motorcycle entitlement appropriate to the vehicle. Do not assume that a car licence or any document marketed as an “international licence” is sufficient. Your insurer should also confirm that your documents meet its policy conditions.

9. What insurance should I arrange?

Choose travel insurance that explicitly covers motorcycle touring in Vietnam, including the engine capacity and road conditions planned for your trip. Ask your insurer to confirm medical treatment, emergency evacuation and repatriation cover in writing. Vehicle liability insurance and motorcycle damage cover are separate from personal travel insurance, so check the applicable arrangements and excesses before departure.

10. What accommodation is provided?

The proposed itinerary combines selected town hotels with local accommodation around Ta Dung and Cat Tien. Hoi An offers the possibility of a hotel or resort stay, depending on your preferred budget. Rural properties may have simpler facilities than city hotels. Your final proposal should specify the accommodation category, room arrangement and any single-room supplement.

11. Is there a support vehicle for luggage and non-riding passengers?

A support vehicle can be discussed as part of your package, but it is not automatically included. When booked, its luggage capacity, passenger seats and route coverage will be confirmed in advance. Without a support vehicle, luggage arrangements must be agreed before departure so that each motorcycle can carry its load appropriately.

12. What happens if a motorcycle develops a mechanical problem?

The riding team will assess the problem and organise assistance according to the support arrangements confirmed for your booking. Minor repairs may be handled en route; more serious issues can require recovery or a change to the day’s programme. Ask us to specify mechanical support, recovery arrangements and replacement-bike availability in your quotation.

13. Will we visit the World Coffee Museum and the waterfalls near Buon Ma Thuot?

These are not guaranteed visits in the standard 10-day schedule. The journey into Buon Ma Thuot is already a substantial riding day, followed by another long stage through Lak Lake to Da Lat. Adding a night in Buon Ma Thuot creates time for the World Coffee Museum, a coffee experience or a waterfall excursion without rushing the onward ride.

14. Are boat trips at Lak Lake and Ta Dung included?

Boat excursions are optional unless specifically listed as included in your booking confirmation. They depend on suitable local operators, weather, safety arrangements and the available time. Lakeside walks and established viewpoints remain worthwhile alternatives, particularly when an excursion would make the riding schedule too tight.

15. Does the Cat Tien visit include Crocodile Lake?

The standard itinerary includes time for a short forest experience, subject to park access and local arrangements. It does not include a full Bau Sau, or Crocodile Lake, excursion. For that experience, we suggest adding another night at Cat Tien so you can explore without rushing the final ride to Saigon. Wildlife sightings cannot be guaranteed.

16. Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Please tell us about vegetarian preferences, allergies or other dietary needs before booking. Advance notice helps the team plan suitable meals, especially in smaller towns where choices may be limited. For severe allergies, discuss the practical limitations with us before confirming, as ingredient handling and cross-contamination controls vary between kitchens.

17. What should I pack for the ride?

Bring a properly fitting helmet, protective riding clothing, gloves and suitable motorcycle footwear. Waterproof layers and a warmer layer are useful for the highland sections. Keep your luggage compact, protect valuables from rain and make frequently needed items easy to reach. Confirm which riding equipment is supplied and whether suitable sizes are available before travelling.

18. What happens if weather or road conditions affect the itinerary?

The guide may adjust departure times, remove an optional stop, change the route or revise the overnight plan when necessary. Mountain visibility, heavy rain and road disruption can affect both riding time and access. Any significant change will be discussed with the group, with the aim of maintaining a sensible pace and avoiding unsafe riding conditions.

19. Can I book an onward flight from Saigon on Day 10?

We strongly recommend staying overnight in Saigon and flying the following day. The final stage includes a morning nature activity and a substantial ride, with arrival affected by road conditions and city traffic. If a same-day flight is essential, discuss a revised final-day arrangement with us before purchasing your ticket.

20. Can the tour be customised for a private group?

Yes. The itinerary can be adapted with shorter riding stages, additional cultural visits, upgraded accommodation or more time in selected destinations. Extra nights in Buon Ma Thuot and Cat Tien are particularly useful for deeper exploration. Share your riding experience, travel dates and interests so we can develop a programme that suits your group.

Awesome Riding Adventure 5 of us did the 10 day Northern Vietnam Off-road Loop at the end of November, very ably assisted by by our guide, Giang, and support vehicle driver, Dong.We logged over 1800km in 9 days of riding, saw some absolutely amazing scenery, partook in local delicacies, met and partied with ethnic people and had an epic trip.Everything around the trip was managed efficiently by Mike Dong, including organising Vietnamese drivers licences for us all. The bikes we had (CRF300L) performed well with only two flat tyres to speak of. The accommodation choices (apart from one night) were comfortable and adequate, the meals were delicious and plentiful. The whole trip went like clockwork and we got to see places few other tourist would ever get to see.I would definitely recommend this tour or shorter trips if you feel 10 days is a bit much.

Unforgettable 12-day trip from Hanoi to Saigon We highly recommend the 12-day trip from Hanoi to Saigon. The organization was excellent from start to finish. The day before, we were personally briefed by the company owner, received all important details and felt well prepared. Our guide Cong was just awesome. We felt safe at all times and were allowed to experience small cultural excursions practically every day. He showed us beautiful places, introduced us to local culture and was able to tell us an incredible amount about the country. We were also spoiled culinary – we ate very fine every day.An absolutely unique experience, perfectly organized and with a guide who made our experience unforgettable. Clear recommendation!

Great bike tour for 6 days, north west Vietnam Brilliant 6 days, the tours are road based with a little bit of riding on un paved roads, Ducky was our guide, ex-road racer which suited us as we like to push on. Was amazing to see all the villagers, people waving, nothing like miserable old England where everyone thinks your doing something illegal. Homesteads were great, food nothing to say as always the best. Get it booked and take your holiday to +10.

10 Days Completed the 10 Day trip. It was guided and tailored to our riding abilities. Sadly we came at a time with flooding and could not complete some tracks because of this. The food was amazing at every location. Homestays were fantastic, nice people. Ducky had good knowledge about the locations and good recommendations
