Tour Details
Day 1: Hanoi Motorbike Tour to Thac Ba Lake – Vu Linh (180 km)
Your Vietnam Big Bike Tour begins in Hanoi, where the urban hum slowly fades as you rev the engine of your ADV bike. By the time you leave the city limits, the landscape opens to endless rice fields, small villages, and the rolling foothills of northern Vietnam. Riding approximately 180 km today, you’ll experience a blend of smooth highways and winding backroads, perfect for familiarizing yourself with your big bike’s handling on Vietnam’s terrain.
As you get closer to Thac Ba Lake, the scenery becomes a stunning mosaic of emerald water, limestone islets, and ancient villages. This area is home to the Dao ethnic minority, and their traditional stilt houses line the shoreline like sentinels from another era. The ride culminates in Vu Linh village, a serene lakeside community where you’ll settle into a comfortable eco-lodge or homestay right on the water’s edge.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: This stage offers relatively easy riding compared to the mountain stages ahead. Ensure your gear is secure, drink plenty of water, and take your time adapting to Vietnam’s traffic rhythm before hitting the twistier roads of the north.
Day 2: Thac Ba Lake Motorcycle Tour to Ha Giang (180 km)
After a quiet breakfast with mist lifting off the lake, your Vietnam ADV Bike Tour heads deeper into the frontier province of Ha Giang. This ride introduces more elevation changes, hairpin bends, and narrow passes — a prelude to the dramatic landscapes ahead.
Along the route, you’ll pass terraced rice fields clinging to mountainsides, small hamlets where children wave enthusiastically, and rivers flowing through rugged valleys. Ha Giang town, the gateway to the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark, marks the end of today’s ride. You’ll check into a boutique hotel or guesthouse, enjoying a hearty local dinner and preparing for the high mountain passes of the following day.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: Keep an eye out for livestock and local traffic on blind curves. These roads are in good shape but can be narrow. A well-balanced ADV bike with good suspension will give you an edge on the mixed tarmac and gravel.
Day 3: Ha Giang Motorbike Tour to Meo Vac via the Dong Van Rock Plateau (150 km)
Today is the soul of the Luxury Vietnam Big Bike Tour. After breakfast, you ride northwards, entering one of Southeast Asia’s most spectacular landscapes — the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO Global Geopark. The road snakes through dramatic limestone peaks, deep canyons, and ancient Hmong villages perched on the cliffs. Every corner reveals a postcard view: terraced hillsides, winding river valleys, and sheer rock walls rising to the sky.
You’ll ride over the famous Ma Pi Leng Pass — often called Vietnam’s “King of Mountain Passes” — where the road clings to the side of a towering cliff, offering dizzying views down to the jade Nho Que River far below. Meo Vac, a charming mountain town, is your destination for the night. Here you can enjoy a warm dinner and perhaps a local corn spirit to toast the day’s epic ride.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: Ma Pi Leng Pass can be windy and narrow. Keep a steady pace and enjoy the scenery but stay alert for trucks or buses on tight corners. Make sure your camera or GoPro is ready — this is a highlight moment.
Day 4: Dong Van Motorbike Tour to Ban Gioc Waterfall (270 km)
Get ready for a full-on adventure today with a long ride (around 270 km) from the high mountains down to one of the most magnificent waterfalls in Asia. Leaving Meo Vac, you’ll cruise through remote valleys, endless limestone ridges, and borderland villages. The scenery gradually changes as you descend — from alpine-like cliffs to lush subtropical hills.
By late afternoon, the roar of the Ban Gioc Waterfall greets you. Straddling the Vietnam–China border, Ban Gioc is a colossal cascade tumbling over tiers of limestone into a turquoise basin. It’s a surreal sight, especially at sunset when mist and golden light create a mystical aura. You’ll overnight at a riverside lodge or comfortable guesthouse nearby, with dinner featuring local specialties.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: This is the longest and most demanding riding day. Fuel up both your tank and your body. Take breaks every 60–80 km to stretch and hydrate. Watch for changing road conditions — from mountain passes to valley roads and occasional gravel patches.
Day 5: Ban Gioc Waterfall Motorbike Tour to Ba Be Lake (210 km)
This morning, you’ll take a few moments to admire Ban Gioc’s beauty before hitting the road again. Today’s 210-km ride takes you through rolling hills, bamboo forests, and quiet countryside on your way to Ba Be Lake National Park.
Ba Be, meaning “Three Lakes” in the local Tay language, is actually one of the largest natural freshwater lakes in Vietnam, surrounded by limestone cliffs, tropical jungle, and small ethnic villages. Once you arrive, you can take an optional boat trip on the serene waters or simply relax at your lodge/homestay on the lake’s edge.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: The ride to Ba Be is gentler than previous days, but still full of curves and occasional potholes. Adjust your suspension for more comfort and keep your riding gear breathable for the humid lowlands.
Day 6: Ba Be Lake Motorbike Tour to Hanoi (230 km)
Your final day of the Vietnam Big Bike Tours takes you from the peaceful Ba Be Lake back to the bustling capital. It’s a satisfying 230-km ride, blending smooth provincial highways with rustic rural roads. Along the way, you’ll pass countless rice paddies, waving farmers, and roadside cafés — the essence of Vietnam’s countryside.
Rolling back into Hanoi, you’ll feel the pulse of the city but carry with you the memories of high passes, wild waterfalls, and untouched valleys. Over a farewell dinner, you can exchange photos and stories, already plotting your next Luxury Vietnam Big Bike Tour adventure.
Tips for Big Bike Riders: As you approach Hanoi, traffic intensifies. Stay in formation, signal clearly, and anticipate city driving dynamics. This is a great time to reflect on your ride — you’ve conquered some of Vietnam’s most legendary routes.
