Cao Bang is a province located in the northeastern part of Vietnam. The North and Northeast sides are bordered by Guangxi Province (China), with a border length of 333,403 km. Cao Bang is a karst plateau mixed with mountains, with an average altitude of over 200 m, and the adjacent area with an altitude of 600-1,300 m above sea level.
Cao Bang owns many valuable historical and cultural relics such as the Pac Bo Special National Monument, ran Hung Dao Forest, and Dong Khe Border Campaign Relic Area. The nature endowed Cao Bang with many beautiful landscapes such as Ban Gioc waterfall, Nguom Ngao cave, Thang Hen lake; The special-use ecological forest of Phja Oac-Phja Den … With the diversity and abundance of natural resources and a culture rich in national identity, Cao Bang is the one you should visit.
Cao Bang province together with Lang Son province in the Ly and Tran dynasties was called Chau Quang Nguyen. This land officially belonged to An Nam in 1039, the Ly Thai Tong dynasty, after the country defeated Nung Tri Cao.
Night 1: Hanoi – Cao Bang by Sleeping Bus
We gather at the meeting point for the overnight sleeping bus to Cao Bang at 21:30 from Hanoi
Day 1: Cao Bang – Pac Bo – Kim Dong homeland- Cao Bang (breakfast, lunch)
In the next early morning, we’ll get to Cao Bang city at around 05:00. Upon arrival, our local guide will welcome then escort you to a local restaurant for a rest and breakfast and then take a motorbike to go to Pac Bo National Monument. Pac Bo is located in Truong Ha commune, Ha Quang district, close to the Vietnam-China border, more than 50km from Cao Bang city. After 30 years of searching for the way to save the country and working abroad, on January 28, 1941, Uncle Ho returned to the homeland through milestone 108. On the way, we will visit the homeland of Kim Dong. Kim Dong (real name is Nong Van Den) was born in 1929. On May 15, 1941, comrade Duc Thanh, who was a revolutionary officer, decided to set up a children’s team to save the country in Na Ma village, consisting of 4 members: Kim Dong, Cao Son, Thanh Thuy, Thuy Tien are led by Kim Dong.
If the time and weather conditions permit, we have the opportunity to explore or stop at some villages to learn about the cultural life here.
After visiting, we return to Cao Bang City.
Overnight in Cao Bang
Day 2: Cao Bang City – Ma Phuc Pass – Quang Uyen – Trung Khanh- Ban Gioc Waterfall – Overnight Bus to Hanoi (breakfast, lunch)
From Cao Bang city, cross Ma Phuc pass, go straight to Ban Gioc Waterfall, Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district. Ma Phuc Pass is located in Quoc Toan commune, Tra Linh district, Cao Bang with a length of more than 3.5km, about 700m above sea level. It is famous as one of the most dangerous roads in the northeastern mountainous region of our country. To conquer Ma Phuc pass, you need to go through 7 floors of swirling slope with many bends, winding along the rocky slope. Riding the bike with a mountain on one side is a deep abyss that never ceases to give a feeling of excitement to the handlebars.
Stretching are the corn fields that are in the green of the hill. There are a number of paths passing through the village, the image of a small house surrounded by a stone fence is very beautiful and impressive.
We visit Nguom Ngao Cave, a cave located in Gun village, Dam Thuy commune, Trung Khanh district. This cave is located in the heart of a mountain, 5 km from Ban Gioc waterfall.
We visit Truc Lam Zen Monastery – a pure spiritual destination, which also has a prime location right on top of Phia Nham, in particular, from here we can admire the Ban Gioc waterfall in a very different perspective. .
We visit and take pictures at Ban Gioc Waterfall and border landmark. Ban Gioc Falls is the world’s fourth largest waterfall among waterfalls located on a border between countries (After Iguazu falls between Brazil – Argentina, Victoria Falls is located between Zambia – Zimbabwe; and Niagara Falls between Canada and the United States of America. ). Ban Gioc Waterfall is the largest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia. Ban Gioc waterfall is located on the flow of the Quay Son River. This river originates in China, flows towards the border of the two countries and then into the Vietnamese territory at Po Peo in Ngoc Khe commune, Trung Khanh district. From Ngoc Khe commune, the river flows through Dinh Phong and Chi Vien communes, when reaching Dam Thuy commune, the river glides around at the foot of Co Muong mountain, then through the fields of Dam Thuy, through the corn field on Gioc village. It runs back to the border then splits into several branches.
Afternoon we come back to Cao Bang city with stopover to visit Phuc Sen forging village.
We get on the sleeping bus back to Hanoi.
Day 3: Hanoi
You will arrive in Hanoi at around 05:00 then you can take a taxi on your own to your hotel for a check-in.
