Day 1: Luang Prabang Motorcycle Tours to Pak Beng (Approx. 150 km)

Your journey begins as you depart from Luang Prabang, the ancient heart of Laos, heading northwest along Route 2. The road hugs the Mekong River, offering glimpses of the mighty waterway through the trees as you ride. The air is fresh, filled with the scent of the forest, and the sound of your motorcycle echoes off the hills that rise steeply on either side.

As you approach Pak Beng, the road winds through lush, forested hills, passing traditional villages where time seems to have stood still. The landscape is serene, with the Mekong River appearing and disappearing from view as you navigate the curves. Pak Beng, a small riverside town, welcomes you with its relaxed atmosphere. Here, life revolves around the river, with boats constantly arriving and departing. As evening falls, enjoy a dinner overlooking the Mekong, the sounds of the river providing a soothing backdrop to the end of your first day.

Day 2: Pak Beng to Houay Xai (Approx. 160 km)

The sun rises over the Mekong as you continue your journey northwest towards Houay Xai. The road ahead takes you through mountainous terrain, with each twist and turn offering new, breathtaking views. The ride is challenging yet rewarding, with the landscape constantly changing from dense forests to open vistas.

As you ride, you pass through small ethnic villages, where children wave enthusiastically as you pass. These villages, nestled in the mountains, provide a glimpse into the daily lives of the local people. Houay Xai, located on the banks of the Mekong River opposite Thailand’s Chiang Khong, is a border town with a laid-back vibe. Spend the afternoon exploring Wat Chomkao Manilat, a local temple, and enjoy the evening in a riverside café, watching the sunset over the Mekong.

Day 3: Houay Xai to Luang Namtha (Approx. 190 km)

Today’s ride takes you east from Houay Xai towards Luang Namtha along Route 3. The road is particularly scenic, winding through forested hills and along rivers that sparkle in the sunlight. The air is cool as you ascend into higher elevations, with the dense canopy overhead providing shade as you ride.

As you approach Luang Namtha, the landscape becomes a patchwork of rice paddies and villages, reflecting the rich cultural diversity of the region. Luang Namtha is known for its proximity to the Nam Ha National Protected Area, where you can explore the dense jungle and visit ethnic minority villages. Day 4: Luang Namtha to Muang Xay (Approx. 150 km)

Technical Support: In case of technical breakdown, we replace the bike with the same type. If an issue shortens your ride, you are refunded for unused days.

5 of us did the 10 day Northern Vietnam Off-road Loop at the end of November, very ably assisted by by our guide, Giang, and support vehicle driver, Dong.We logged over 1800km in 9 days of riding, saw some absolutely amazing scenery, partook in local delicacies, met and partied with ethnic people and had an epic trip.Everything around the trip was managed efficiently by Mike Dong, including organising Vietnamese drivers licences for us all. The bikes we had (CRF300L) performed well with only two flat tyres to speak of. The accommodation choices (apart from one night) were comfortable and adequate, the meals were delicious and plentiful.The whole trip went like clockwork and we got to see places few other tourist would ever get to see.I would definitely recommend this tour or shorter trips if you feel 10 days is a bit much.

He showed us beautiful places, introduced us to local culture and was able to tell us an incredible amount about the country. Brilliant 6 days, the tours are road based with a little bit of riding on un paved roads, Ducky was our guide, ex-road racer which suited us as we like to push on. Was amazing to see all the villagers, people waving, nothing like miserable old England where everyone thinks your doing something illegal. We did a 10 day tour. Lihn was our guide. Great guy. We had a Canadian guy join us, so 4 in total. Amazing time, 10 days few by. I had a gopro on my helmet facing forward, Lihn had one facing back.
