Itinerary:

Day 1: Pakse – Paksong – Tad Fane – Tad Lo (Approx. 180 km)

Your four-day adventure starts in Pakse, where the road takes you into the cool, misty highlands of the Bolaven Plateau. As you ascend, the temperature drops, and you’ll find yourself surrounded by lush green coffee plantations. Stop at Paksong, a charming town that serves as the hub of Laos’ coffee industry. Here, you can visit a local coffee farm, learn about the region’s unique coffee-growing process, and enjoy a freshly brewed cup while overlooking the scenic landscape.

Tad Fane waterfall

Continue riding to Tad Fane, a majestic twin waterfall that plunges into a deep jungle gorge. Take in the awe-inspiring views of the waterfall before continuing your ride to Tad Lo, a peaceful village surrounded by nature. Spend the afternoon exploring the area, swimming in the river, and visiting local ethnic minority villages nearby. In the evening, enjoy a relaxing stay in a riverside guesthouse, listening to the soothing sounds of Tad Lo waterfall.

Day 2: Tad Lo – Attapeu – Xe Pian National Park (Approx. 200 km)

Day two brings a sense of adventure as you leave Tad Lo behind and head south toward the remote province of Attapeu. The road becomes more rugged as you pass through mountainous terrain, offering incredible views of untouched landscapes. Attapeu is one of the most remote and least-visited regions of Laos, giving you a true off-the-beaten-path experience.

As you ride through this wild and scenic province, you’ll eventually reach Xe Pian National Park, a protected area known for its rich biodiversity. The park is home to rare wildlife such as elephants, gibbons, and hornbills, and its dense jungle offers a unique glimpse into the natural beauty of southern Laos. Spend the night in an eco-lodge near Xe Pian, surrounded by nature, where you can relax and enjoy the serenity of the park.

Day 3: Xe Pian – Wat Phu – Champasak (Approx. 160 km)

Wake up to the sounds of nature before continuing your loop north toward Champasak. Today’s highlight is a visit to the famous Wat Phu, a Khmer temple complex that predates the famous temples of Angkor. Wat Phu’s ruins, set against the dramatic backdrop of Phou Kao Mountain, provide a stunning contrast to the Mekong River below. Spend the afternoon exploring the temple’s terraces, ancient carvings, and mysterious statues.

After visiting the temple, take time to relax in the laid-back town of Champasak. Stroll along the river, visit the local market, or simply unwind at a riverside café as the sun sets over the Mekong. Overnight in a guesthouse in Champasak.
