Cambodia dirt bike tour from Phnom Penh to Sambor Prei Kuk, Preah Khan Temple – Detailed Itinerary:

01

Day 1: Phnom Penh motorcycle tour to Kampong Cham (Approx. 130 km)

Your journey begins in Phnom Penh, where after a brief introduction to your motorbike and the off-road adventure ahead, you will set out towards Kampong Cham. Today’s ride will take you along a mix of rural roads and dirt trails, passing through the vibrant countryside. You’ll ride through farming communities and rubber plantations, with stunning views of the Cambodian landscape unfolding as you go. The roads are generally well-maintained but expect sections that are rougher, providing your first taste of off-road adventure.

Phnom Penh motorcycle tour to Kampong Cham

Kampong Cham, situated on the banks of the Mekong River, is your destination for the day. This charming town retains much of its colonial-era architecture and has a relaxed, riverside vibe. In the afternoon, explore the fascinating Wat Nokor, a fusion of ancient Angkorian temple ruins and a modern pagoda. The juxtaposition of the old and new here is a unique sight, setting the tone for the rest of your journey. Overnight in Kampong Cham, with time to relax by the river.

02

Day 2: Kampong Cham motorcycle tour to Kampong Thom (Approx. 160 km)

Set off from Kampong Cham towards Kampong Thom, riding through the heart of Cambodia’s rural landscape. Today’s route will take you along dusty dirt roads, through small villages, and past vast rice paddies and palm trees. You will experience a variety of terrains, from packed dirt roads to more rugged off-road sections that will test your riding skills.

Kampong Cham motorcycle tour to Kampong Thom via Sambor Prei Kuk Archaeological Site

En route, visit the Sambor Prei Kuk temple complex, which predates the famous Angkor temples and offers a quieter, more serene experience in the middle of the jungle. These temples are less visited than Angkor, allowing you to explore at leisure and soak in the peaceful atmosphere of the ancient stone structures nestled among the trees. After spending time at this fascinating archaeological site, continue to Kampong Thom, a peaceful town where you’ll spend the night in a local guesthouse, enjoying authentic Cambodian hospitality.

03

Day 3: Kampong Thom motorcycle tour to Preah Khan (Approx. 150 km)

Today’s adventure leads you deeper into Cambodia’s remote countryside as you make your way to the lesser-known Preah Khan temple complex in Kompong Svay. This day offers a mix of off-road trails and jungle paths, with the journey providing plenty of challenging terrain. You’ll pass through small, isolated villages, giving you a glimpse into the traditional way of life in rural Cambodia. The trails are more rugged and less traveled, adding to the sense of adventure.

Kampong Thom motorcycle tour to Preah Khan

Upon arrival at Preah Khan, you’ll be amazed by the grandeur of this vast, mostly overgrown temple complex. Unlike its more famous counterparts near Siem Reap, Preah Khan is far from the tourist crowds, allowing for quiet exploration of its crumbling stone structures, which are slowly being reclaimed by the jungle. The sheer size of the temple, combined with its remote location, makes this a truly unforgettable stop on your journey. You’ll spend the night near the temple in a local guesthouse or homestay.

04

Day 4: Preah Khan motorcycle tour to Beng Mealea (Approx. 120 km)

After a morning exploring more of Preah Khan, you’ll set off for Beng Mealea, a temple that offers a similar sense of adventure. The route will take you through remote jungle paths, challenging your off-road riding skills as you navigate through Cambodia’s dense forests. The ride today is filled with excitement, as you pass through rural communities and scenic landscapes on your way to one of the country’s most mysterious temple ruins.

Beng Mealea is an enormous, largely unrestored temple complex that is partially swallowed by the jungle. Its maze-like corridors, crumbling towers, and tree roots weaving through the stone structures create a hauntingly beautiful scene. You’ll have plenty of time to explore this temple before settling in for the night at a nearby guesthouse, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

05

Day 5: Beng Mealea motorcycle tour to Siem Reap (Approx. 100 km)

The final leg of your journey takes you from Beng Mealea to Siem Reap, home to the famous Angkor Wat temples. The ride begins with more off-road trails, as you navigate through quiet rural villages and farmland. You’ll experience Cambodia’s scenic countryside up close, passing through rice paddies and palm trees before gradually approaching Siem Reap.

Arriving in Siem Reap in the afternoon, you’ll have completed your 5-day off-road adventure, which has taken you through some of Cambodia’s most hidden and beautiful locations. Siem Reap, with its bustling markets, restaurants, and the majestic temples of Angkor, is the perfect place to end your journey. Reflect on the adventure, the challenges of the off-road trails, and the incredible temples you’ve explored along the way as you celebrate the completion of this unforgettable journey.

End of trip!

Awesome Riding Adventure 5 of us did the 10 day Northern Vietnam Off-road Loop at the end of November, very ably assisted by by our guide, Giang, and support vehicle driver, Dong.We logged over 1800km in 9 days of riding, saw some absolutely amazing scenery, partook in local delicacies, met and partied with ethnic people and had an epic trip.Everything around the trip was managed efficiently by Mike Dong, including organising Vietnamese drivers licences for us all. The bikes we had (CRF300L) performed well with only two flat tyres to speak of. The accommodation choices (apart from one night) were comfortable and adequate, the meals were delicious and plentiful. The whole trip went like clockwork and we got to see places few other tourist would ever get to see.I would definitely recommend this tour or shorter trips if you feel 10 days is a bit much.

Unforgettable 12-day trip from Hanoi to Saigon We highly recommend the 12-day trip from Hanoi to Saigon. The organization was excellent from start to finish. The day before, we were personally briefed by the company owner, received all important details and felt well prepared. Our guide Cong was just awesome. We felt safe at all times and were allowed to experience small cultural excursions practically every day. He showed us beautiful places, introduced us to local culture and was able to tell us an incredible amount about the country. We were also spoiled culinary – we ate very fine every day.An absolutely unique experience, perfectly organized and with a guide who made our experience unforgettable. Clear recommendation!

Great bike tour for 6 days, north west Vietnam Brilliant 6 days, the tours are road based with a little bit of riding on un paved roads, Ducky was our guide, ex-road racer which suited us as we like to push on. Was amazing to see all the villagers, people waving, nothing like miserable old England where everyone thinks your doing something illegal. Homesteads were great, food nothing to say as always the best. Get it booked and take your holiday to +10.

10 Days Completed the 10 Day trip. It was guided and tailored to our riding abilities. Sadly we came at a time with flooding and could not complete some tracks because of this. The food was amazing at every location. Homestays were fantastic, nice people. Ducky had good knowledge about the locations and good recommendations
