Tour Details

Day 1: Hanoi Motorbike Tour to Pu Luong Nature Reserve

Leaving the bustling chaos of Hanoi behind, the adventure begins as you throttle your ADV big bike toward the lush countryside. The highway quickly dissolves into scenic backroads, where terraced rice fields and limestone karsts dominate the horizon. Riding through Mai Chau valley, you will sense the heartbeat of Vietnam’s rural life—buffaloes plowing the fields, women in traditional dress selling woven crafts, and children waving excitedly at the roaring convoy of big bikes.

By afternoon, you reach Pu Luong Nature Reserve, a hidden emerald of northern Vietnam. The twisting mountain passes offer breathtaking views of layered rice terraces tumbling down into deep valleys. Here, a short walk to a Thai ethnic village reveals bamboo stilt houses and the aroma of sticky rice steaming over open fires. Dinner is a feast of local specialties—grilled mountain pork, wild herbs, and rice wine shared with the villagers.

Tip for riders: Roads into Pu Luong are narrow and winding; stay alert for sharp bends and livestock crossing. With ADV big bikes, maintaining lower gear control helps ensure smooth handling.

Day 2: Pu Luong Nature Reserve Motorbike Tour to Tan Ky (Nghe An)

The morning sun lights up the mist over Pu Luong’s valleys, making the first kilometers feel like riding through a dream. Today’s ride follows the legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail, once a vital wartime supply route, now a motorbike rider’s paradise. The smooth tarmac and rolling hills are perfect for Vietnam ADV bike tours, letting riders stretch out and enjoy the rhythm of the road.

On the way, you’ll pass through peaceful rural towns where markets spill onto the roadside. Stopping for lunch at a local eatery, you’ll taste Nghe An’s signature eel soup, a delicacy beloved by locals. The flavor—rich, earthy, and slightly spicy—warms your body and connects you to the land.

Arriving in Tan Ky, the symbolic “starting point” of the Ho Chi Minh Trail, you’ll see the historical milestone that marks the beginning of Vietnam’s most legendary wartime road. Evening in Tan Ky is quieter, but it’s a chance to rest, share stories with locals, and prepare for the long ride deeper south.

Reminder: The day’s ride is long (200+ km). Carry enough hydration, and fuel up whenever possible—remote stretches may not have frequent gas stations.

Day 3: Tan Ky Motorbike Tour to Phong Nha (Quang Binh)

Today is where the adventure spirit truly awakens. Riding south along the Ho Chi Minh Trail, the road cuts through dense jungles and soaring limestone mountains. Few tourists venture here, making it one of the most authentic stretches of any Vietnam big bike tour. The trail unfolds like a ribbon between history and wilderness—each turn whispers stories of resilience and courage.

By midday, you enter Phong Nha–Ke Bang National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to the world’s largest cave systems. The karst formations rise dramatically, resembling ancient fortresses of stone. Riders can take a short boat ride into Phong Nha Cave, where shimmering stalactites and underground rivers create a surreal, otherworldly scene.

Dinner tonight highlights Quang Binh cuisine—try fresh river fish grilled in banana leaves and sip on local rice wine, said to be strong enough to warm even the toughest riders.

Note for ADV riders: Some sections of the Ho Chi Minh Trail here are remote, with limited mobile coverage. Ride in groups, keep your headlights on through shaded jungle curves, and watch for sudden weather changes.

Day 4: Phong Nha Motorbike Tour to Khe Sanh (Quang Tri – ~250 km / 7 hours riding)

As dawn breaks over the limestone karsts of Phong Nha, you’ll kick-start your big bike and follow the Ho Chi Minh West Trail, one of the most stunning and least-traveled stretches in the country. This section hugs the Laos border and takes you through dense jungle, soaring mountain passes, and serpentine roads that seem built for ADV motorcycles. The echoes of wartime history still linger here, yet the serenity and beauty of today’s ride are unforgettable.

Stops en route include local tea stalls under towering trees—perfect for stretching your legs and sharing smiles with villagers. Lunch can be a hearty bowl of Quang Binh-style noodle soup at a roadside eatery. By late afternoon, roll into Khe Sanh, once a pivotal US Marine combat base. The Khe Sanh Combat Base Museum offers an evocative glimpse into Vietnam’s war past, with rusted tanks, aircraft, and trenches.

Rider’s note: Fuel up fully at Phong Nha and Khe Sanh; intermediate stations are sparse. This is one of the most rewarding yet demanding riding days of any Vietnam ADV bike tour.

Day 5: Quang Tri Motorcycle Tour to DMZ & Vinh Moc Tunnels – Ride to Hue

Today blends history with coastal beauty. After breakfast, ride toward Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), where the country was once split. Visit the Vinh Moc Tunnels, an underground village built to shelter hundreds of civilians from bombings—walking through its cool, narrow corridors is humbling.

Back on the big bike, you’ll head south along coastal roads dotted with fishing villages and sweeping sand dunes. The salt-laced air and ocean breeze are a refreshing contrast to the jungles of previous days. Lunch on the way can include fresh seafood at Cua Viet Beach, a favorite stop for riders craving a seaside meal.

By evening, arrive in the imperial city of Hue, famed for its UNESCO-listed Citadel and royal tombs. Tonight’s dinner could be a regal affair with Hue’s “Royal Banquet” cuisine, complete with delicate spring rolls, mussel rice, and traditional music performances.

Tip: City traffic in Hue can be dense with scooters—ride defensively and keep your headlights on.

Day 6: Hue Motorcycle Tour to Hoi An via Hai Van Pass and Da Nang

Few roads in the world are as iconic as the Hai Van Pass, immortalized on “Top Gear” as Vietnam’s ultimate riding playground. After a morning stroll around Hue’s Citadel, throttle your ADV bike onto Highway 1, hugging the coast before climbing the winding pass. Each hairpin bend reveals panoramic views of the East Sea on one side and misty mountains on the other—a perfect stage for a luxury Vietnam big bike tour photo stop.

Descend into Da Nang, a dynamic coastal city with modern bridges and surf beaches. Pause for a seafood lunch at My Khe Beach before continuing on to Hoi An, the lantern-lit UNESCO World Heritage town. In the evening, wander its cobblestone streets, shop for tailored suits, or sip Vietnamese coffee by the Thu Bon River.

Reminder: The Hai Van Pass can be misty or rainy—ensure rain gear is accessible and brake early on wet curves.

Day 7: Hoi An Motorbike Tour passing My Son – Dong Phu to Kham Duc (Phuoc Son)

This morning, ride west out of Hoi An toward My Son Sanctuary, Vietnam’s answer to Angkor Wat and a UNESCO site of ancient Champa temples. The road snakes through sleepy villages and fragrant herb gardens. After exploring the red-brick towers of My Son, continue on Highway 14E, a scenic stretch leading to Dong Phu and onward to Kham Duc.

Lunch in a small mountain town introduces you to Quang-style turmeric noodles with pork and shrimp, a dish rarely found outside the region. By afternoon, the air cools as you ascend forested hills toward Kham Duc, a quiet highland town surrounded by rivers and thick jungle—a great overnight stop before plunging into Vietnam’s Central Highlands.

Rider tip: This stretch mixes smooth tarmac with rough patches; maintain steady throttle and be ready for occasional potholes.

Day 8: Kham Duc Motorbike Tour to Kon Tum

Leaving Kham Duc, the route dives deeper into the Central Highlands, where wide mountain vistas and minority villages offer a glimpse of another Vietnam. The Ho Chi Minh Trail here is impeccable for ADV big bikes—long sweeping turns, light traffic, and cool pine-scented air.

Stop in Dak Glei or Ngoc Hoi for a local lunch of “cơm lam” (sticky rice in bamboo) and grilled chicken. By late afternoon, you’ll reach Kon Tum, a town famous for its French-era wooden church and the historic Kon Klor suspension bridge. Dinner can be at a riverside restaurant sampling bitter bamboo shoot soup and highland coffee.

Tip: Afternoon rains are common—pack rain liners and waterproof your luggage.

Day 9: Kon Tum Motorbike Tour to Buon Ma Thuot

A day of wide-open highland roads awaits. You’ll ride past pepper plantations, rubber forests, and sprawling coffee estates—this is the heart of Vietnam’s coffee kingdom. The road undulates through rolling hills, perfect for opening up the throttle of your big bike while still savoring the scenery.

Lunch at Pleiku introduces you to Gia Lai beef noodle soup, distinct from its Hue cousin. Arriving in Buon Ma Thuot, you can visit the Dray Nur and Dray Sap waterfalls or a local coffee museum to learn why this city powers Vietnam’s coffee exports.

Note: Highland roads can be slick with fallen leaves in shaded sections—brake early and test grip.

Day 10: Buon Ma Thuot Motorbike Tour to Lak Lake then onwards to Da Lat

This is one of the most photogenic days of your luxury Vietnam big bike tour. First, ride to Lak Lake, a tranquil body of water surrounded by M’nong ethnic villages. Here you can see elephants grazing or take a dugout canoe across the lake. Lunch features grilled river fish and wild vegetables at a local longhouse.

Then the road ascends to Da Lat, Vietnam’s “City of Eternal Spring,” via sweeping pine-clad passes. Cool air, French villas, and flower gardens welcome you to this highland retreat. Evening in Da Lat calls for a cozy dinner of hotpot with artichoke tea, a specialty of the region.

Tip: Watch for sudden fog banks when climbing toward Da Lat—visibility can drop quickly.

Day 11: Da Lat Motorbike Tour to Mui Ne Beach

Trade mountain air for ocean breeze as you descend from Da Lat to the coast. The route rolls through orchards and desert-like sand hills before reaching Mui Ne Beach, famous for its giant red and white sand dunes. This contrast of pine forests giving way to tropical coastline showcases Vietnam’s incredible geographic diversity.

In Mui Ne, unwind with fresh seafood by the beach or try kite-surfing for an adrenaline fix. Evening strolls along the palm-fringed shoreline let you swap riding boots for flip-flops.

Note for riders: The descent involves long downhill sections—check your brakes beforehand and use engine braking to avoid overheating.

Day 12: Mui Ne Beach Motorbike Tour to Saigon

The final day of your epic Vietnam ADV bike tour takes you along Highway 1 toward bustling Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City). Coastal roads lined with cashew plantations gradually turn into urban sprawl. Lunch en route could be at a local seaside restaurant offering Vietnamese-style grilled squid and banh xeo (crispy pancakes).

By afternoon, the skyline of Saigon emerges—a dazzling mix of colonial landmarks, glass towers, and vibrant street life. Arrive at your hotel, park the bikes, and toast your 12-day journey with a cold Saigon beer. The sense of achievement and camaraderie after traversing nearly the entire length of Vietnam on big bikes is unmatched.

Rider tip: Expect heavier traffic as you near Saigon—stick close to your lead rider and maintain safe spacing.
